What is the connection between dragons and dinosaurs?

Did some of storytellers see live dinosaurs or dragons? Which stories are based on real encounters? And which are merely fairy tales based on the stories of others? Will anyone ever know for sure? LOL aphanes, you make me smile!

2. Dragons were myths. Dinosaurs were extinct. Storytellers just utilized their imaginations to weave their tales...
3. The only connection is, no human has ever seen a live specimen of either.
4. While there are certainly large reptiles in existance in the world today (crocodiles, anacondas, komodo dragons), mythical dragons are just that, myths. Some myths are based in fact, however, and I think it is very likely that modern tales of dragons were inspired by sightings of modern day reptiles or dinosaur fossils, many of which come out of China.

In India are chronicles of ancient wars between alien conquerors who fought each other with energy beams ,this could account for legends of fire breathing dragons. Babylon was supposedly founded by the Anunaki this is just too many snakes or lizards and dragons for all of this to be fantasy,all legends have a grain of truth and this is a barn full of grains. dinosaurs is another story

12. This is my theory: people dug up dinosaur bones and thought that they were giant beasts, dragons. If you observe, some dragons in different cultures have differences, one crucial trait is the ability of flight. Perhaps some people dug up a dinosaur fossil that had wings, and they say them to be flying monsters. Some dino fossils lacking wings were flightless dragons. However, that is all speculation. We may never know the true story, unless we make a time machine, then that's a different story.

14. People mistook komodo dragons for dragons, and some mistook them for dinos so someone knotted the two and made it into one concept
15. The connection is humans. Humans find large fossilized bones and reassemble them into the likeness of museum dinosaurs (sometimes making mistakes, like putting the wrong head on the "brontosaur"). These creatures were dead long before man's first story. Humans also made written lists and drawings of creatures told but unseen but most: Elves, Dwarfs, Unicorns, Griffins, Centaurs, Dragons. These creatures became alive with the telling of man's first story.
