Dinosaur Files

If the dinosaurs were never wiped out, do you think humans would have ever evolved?

I would think that, being the meat-eating creatures that they are, dinosaurs would have devoured anything and everything, hence, not allowing evolution to happen (that is, of course, if evolution is true - and that is a totally different topic and question to deal with).

Public Comments

  1. It is possible that humans would have evolved in spite of the predators still being alive. Humans probably would have adapted to their situation....
  2. humans were around when dinosaurs were roaming the planet. Cavemen used to build giant BBQ pits in the ground to cook dinosaurs. They refered to those human beings as being cavemen because they burrowed into caves and hillsides for shelter.
  3. Humans themselves would not, but other live forms would evolve. During the reign of dinosaurs mammals were very primitive and small in size. Only after the mass extinction of dinosaurs did mammals begun to evolve larger. Obviously if dinosaurs coexisted with us we would look very differently. We would be smaller and either live underground or in the trees.
  4. What about Lions and Tigers? We survived being eaten by them. It's possible that an intelligent creature could have evolved from dinosaurs. I've seen pictures of such speculation. I hope the BBQ pit statement was a joke.
  5. Not a chance. You are exactly correct ... the long evolution of the mammals to the larger primates to the enormous brains of the apes to the freaky-big brains of humans ... could not have even gotten started as long as the dinosaurs were eating the little rodent-like mammals alive at the time as appetizers. >"... that is, of course, if evolution is true ..." (Sigh.) How I long for the day when comments like these are as unheard of in a science forum as something like "... that is, of course, if the earth really is round ... " in the Astronomy forum. That day will come.
  6. dude, dinosaurs weren't wiped out...haven't you seen "Jurassic Park"?
  7. I realize that we have had extinction events, but I think the ultimate demise of the dinosaurs was caused by man forming organized hunting groups with the purpose of killing off the dinosaurs. The white man did it to the buffalo without even trying.
