Dinosaur Files

How do dinosaurs fit into the picture of Christianity?

Are there fundamentalists that actually believe God planted them there to test our faith? Or the devil to deceive us? I love this quote from Bill Hicks: “You believe the world's 12 thousand years old? "That's right." Okay I got one word to ask you, a one word question, ready? "Uh huh." Dinosaurs. You know the world's 12 thousand years old and dinosaurs existed, they existed in that time, you'd think it would have been mentioned in the fucking Bible at some point. "And lo Jesus and the disciples walked to Nazareth. But the trail was blocked by a giant brontosaurus...with a splinter in his paw. And O the disciples did run a shriekin': 'What a big fucking lizard, Lord!' But Jesus was unafraid and he took the splinter from the brontosaurus's paw and the big lizard became his friend.” So is the world only a few thousand years old according to you? And don't gimme this "carbon dating doesn't work" crap...I'm a physicist and I know for a fact there are plenty of dating methods which prove the world is billions of years old. “You ever noticed how people who believe in Creationism look really unevolved? You ever noticed that? Eyes real close together, eyebrow ridges, big furry hands and feet. "I believe God created me in one day" Yeah, looks like He rushed it.” - Bill Hicks again HAHA I admit you're right redpatton...I suppose I won't tell my children the scientific way children are made. I will make up a story because they are not mature or intelligent enough to see through the story and see all the details, so I will make something up that will comfort them, being less intelligent at that point in time.

  1. Good one.
  2. Interestin story, I don't understand though. Christian Don't belive in the Dinos. I however do and I'm a christian. Time was creted by man and could of been changed.
  3. Just like all the rest of earth God created the earth and with it all its creatures. Good Luck and God Bless!!
  4. LOL, Good one. I want a crack at it though. The Bible tells us that time on heaven, and time on earth are not the same. What is a hundred years here, is but a blink in Gods eye. So I believe, although you will find no religion to back me up, the world HAS to be older than believers will tell us, because there is too much info other wise. BUT, why couldn't God have used "the world was created in 6 days" as in example. If those were 6 days in his time, then to us it would be thousands of years, in wich dinosaurs could have lived, right? Everyone takes the Bible word for word, but yet believe God can do anything. I don't think the Bible is the whole story, but I do think God can do anything, and if so, why cant the world be thousands of years older, and also have had dinosaurs. Maybe God started with em, and changed his mind, huh?
  5. they don't fit in too well, since christianity is a baseless, silly myth. dinosaurs won't fit into the story of peter pan, either. same thing...
  6. I believe God put aardvarks on earth to test us.
  7. Wow! Yeah! That's a good one. I'm still laughing. Oh! My side is splitting. That first day could have lasted 10 billion years for all we know. The creation of the earth was not important enough to record in the bible. Creation was about man, not earth.
  8. Funny...but you should have left the F-words out.
  9. lol good one ask god he knows
  10. Yes, there are some people out there who interpret the bible literally and feel that God put all the dinosaur bones and such to confuse people or to make jobs for people. The easy answer is this: Genesis 1:21 And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. Genesis 1:24-25 And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good. Dinosaurs would be counted in as "every living creature" and "living creature" and "beast of the earth"
  11. Agnostic here, they'll just point to some passage in the bible where it mentions a giant animal. You are trying to reason with someone who thinks there is a man in the sky with a long grey robe and a white beard who threw a fireball at the Earth because he didn't get his gay orgy invitation in time. Come on man, this stuff is all made up and its silly.
  12. Not sure if the "f" bombs are appropriate here, but I understand your frustration. Believe it or not there are some fundies that actually belive that scientist have traveled back in time and planted the dinasaur bones to confuse the "righteous". I have listed a reply from the Institute for Creation Research in the sources below that goes into great detail about dinasaurs living beside man and such other nonesense.
  13. They were in the Garden of Eden but got left off the Ark, I guess. These types of questions that the priests and nuns couldn't answer are why I'm a pagan now and not a Catholic anymore!
  14. Many Christians believe that Dinosaurs were created during the six day creation period under the category "beasts of the earth" (Genesis 1:24,25).
  15. I am a Christian and I definately DO believe that dinosaurs existed on earth at some point in the earth's existence. In the book of Genesis, it talks about God creating the earth. We don't know if the 6 days of creation are literal days or if they are actually years inbetween each because the Bible says that a day is as a thousand years with the Lord and these mamals could have existed inbetween these 'days / years' "But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day." (2 Peter 3:7-9)
  16. Hello.. :) This is not a hippo (they have short tails)..so do elephants..which animal do you think this is..is it a dinosaur..could it be a brontosaurus.. Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox. 16 Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly. 17 He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together. 18 His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron. 19 He is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him. 20 Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play. 21 He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens. 22 The shady trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about. 23 Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth. 24 He taketh it with his eyes: his nose pierceth through snares. ============================================================ In Jesus Most Precious Name.. With Love..In Christ..
  17. I am a Christians and I believe in dinosaurs. I believe they were destory during the flood.
  18. that depends of how do you take the bible... as hitoric book or a tool to find God. the bible is not a scientific book either. If it was we don't have to worry about dicover vaccines, or new energies etc. we go to the bible and find the answer. Perhaps a good way to answer your question... when you have kids, and they ask you about where the kids come from what are you going to tell them... are you going to expleain the scientific way or you just going to explain the easy way so he can understand. the bible is a book of faith, is not historic or sientific. God did not wrote the bible, people did with the knowledge they had then. what about God inspiration.... well that is true but imagine that God prensent himself to you tonight and tell you all the answers to science and history ... what but of course you have no way to prove it because is so advance that you have no way to prove it... it want be better to explain thing in a way that you may understand. Can you imagine the bilbe with the elements table ,list of dinosaurs, etc etc... people would have said what the hell are you talking about men... are you high or what?
  19. It's all about evolution, not creation. The Bible is just a nice little story that a very bored person decided to write one day. He thought, 'Hey, I think I can dupe millions of people with these few pages that I write." You can't dispute the fact that dinos did roam the Earth millions of years ago. There are bones ALL OVER THE WORLD! Why is it that dinos that have been dead for millions of years are being unearthed constantly, whereas Noah's Ark is still M.I.A?? Explain that one Creationists. Splinter in his paw... LOL
  20. I beleive in the gap theory. Genesis 1:1 states that in the beginning God creeated the heaven and earth. Now there may have been millions and millions of years before the earth became void as described in Genesis 1:2. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters beginning the creation of the earth again. During this time there was all kinds of creatures on the earth including dinasaurs But when Satan rebelled against God and was cast down the earth became void and darkness was upon the face of the deep.. Isaiah 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
  21. In dealing with staunch creationists, I first ask them whether or not they believe in the fossil record. If the answer is no, then I usually just walk away from the whole debate. If they don't even believe in the fossil record, they're not going to see reason, and nothing anyone can say will change their mind. As far as the whole dinosaur thing goes...I agree with what others have said so far on here; dinosaurs can fit into the creation theory. There's no way for us to know how long a day is to God, and honestly, if you look at the evolutionary theory and the story of creation, you'll actually find that they're quite similar, as far as order goes. First comes the light (The Big Bang), then heavens and Earth (other stars, our solar system forming), then land (the earth cooling), then animals (life forming, evolving, etc., into other mammals, which could very well include dinosaurs and even our own ape-like descendants), then, on the second to last day, human beings (anatomically modern ones, that is). What people have to remember is that Darwin himself was a very religious man, and came up with the theory of evolution to further legitimize our creation. So why would creation and evolution have to be completely incompatible?
  22. this is NOT THAT DIFFICULT. #1 the Bible talks about the animal that breathed fire, and about another behemoth that swallowed rivers with legs and a tail like tree trunks. the reason Dinosaurs aren't around today is because when the great flood came ALL animals got into the ark. after the flood the climate had totally changed (like ancient plant seeds in the dessert) and the dinosaurs died because the climate was a lot colder.
  23. The bible does talk about dinosaurs ad they refer to them as beasts of the eart. the behemoth and the leviathan were probably dinosaurs. They were just about destroyed in the flood except for the baby dinos that Noah took. They grew and procreated a little over thearth after the flood until humans destroyed them. That is why we have dragon legends in Europe, Asia, and North America
